In Charlotte, North Carolina, financial literacy rates are alarmingly low across all age groups, and the problem begins in our schools. A lack of financial education leaves students unprepared to handle their finances as adults. Additionally, traditional financial education fails address the distinct financial needs of women.
Mind Your Money is a unique initiative aimed at providing financial education resources for high school-aged girls. The mission is to create products that teach personal finance while also resonating with the learning styles and preferences of today’s young women. Through extensive research, more insight was gained on how to address these challenges through design.

Visual Style Guide (Logo, Color Palette, Typefaces)

The first product a money management app is designed to engage high school girls by helping them track their income, expenses, and savings goals. It encourages manual entry of their earnings and spending, fostering deeper mental engagement with their finances.
The app includes gamified challenges similar to fitness apps, where users can participate in financial fitness challenges, track progress, and even use a moneybot AI assistant for personalized guidance. The module section provides teachings on specific topics a user is seeking.
The second product is an Infographic Poster Series. These vibrant, easy-to-understand posters are designed for classroom environments and cover the most common financial concerns for young women. The brand colors and simple visual cues make complex financial concepts accessible and memorable. These posters act as reference guides that students can refer to as they navigate their financial journeys.

Lastly the mind your money board game is a fun, interactive game that mimics real-world financial situations where players take on different personas with various financial backgrounds. As they navigate through saving, investing, debt management, and budgeting scenarios, players learn how to make informed financial decisions in a realistic, yet entertaining, setting.





































Through these resources, we’re not only providing education but also empowering young women to take control of their financial futures by shifting how they view money—moving from lack of confidence to informed decision-making.
